Report: Steelers shopping for trade offers on RT Marcus Gilbert

While the Pittsburgh Steelers have locked up a pair of starting offensive lineman with new contract extensions in recent days, it appears another one could be headed elsewhere.

Right tackle Marcus Gilbert is on the trade block, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

A second-round pick out of Florida in the 2011 NFL draft, Gilbert has made 87 starts over eight seasons in Pittsburgh, but injuries have limited him to just 12 starts over the past two years.

Having just turned 31, Gilbert could be on the way out to make room for a younger, cheaper option for the Steelers. If the team isn’t able to find a trade partner, don’t be surprised if Gilbert is released outright prior to the start of the new league year next week.
