Report: Ben Roethlisberger fined $5K for wearing Apple Watch on sideline

The NFL has fined Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethslierbger $5,000 for wearing his Apple Watch on the sideline of last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

League rules prohibit players from having any electronic device on the sidelines that transmit messages. According to Schefter, Roethlisberger is appealing the fine and is using the “my wife dressed me” defense.

Roethlisberger was placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering an elbow injury in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Roethlisberger was on the sideline during last week’s win, operating as something of an additional coach for young QB Mason Rudolph.
