Report: Steelers not expected to being back OC Randy Fichtner

According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not planning to renew the contract of offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner. Fichtner has been under constant scrutiny since the team promoted him from quarterbacks coach in 2018 for his lack of originality and innovation with his offense.

The Steelers offense, while talented, was relegated to a short passing game with no semblance of a rushing attack in 2020. The team went 1-5 in its final six games of the year due in large part to the offense’s inability to move the football and score points.
