Report: Steelers looking to trade up in the first round

According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the teams looking to move up in the first round of the NFL draft. As Schefter noted, the Steelers aren’t typically a team to make a move up, but the needs on defense could force their hand.

The two most memorable trade ups for the Steelers in recent history were the ones that got Pittsburgh wide receiver Santonio Holmes and safety Troy Polamalu. This time around, it appears the target of a trade up would be for former Michigan linebacker Devin Bush. How high do the Steelers have to go up to get him? Based on many mock draft, anything lower than 15 isn’t going to get him.

In any trade-up scenario, it is all about value. The front office must weigh out the cost of a trade up compared to the perceived value of the player, whether it’s Bush or someone else.
