Report: Steelers interested in free-agent WR Golden Tate

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers might not be done in free agency yet. The Steelers have already reportedly made a move to sign wide receiver Donte Moncrief but could also be a buyer for Golden Tate.

You don’t simply replace a player like Antonio Brown but Tate would be a significant step in the right direction. Tate is entering his tenth season and has 611 career receptions. Tate had his best season in 2019 when he hauled in 99 receptions for 1,331 receiving yards.

Tate would provide the Steelers a veteran presence who can carry a heavy workload if need be. His ability to get deep would go well with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Donte Moncrief. The addition of Tate would also minimize the need to draft a wide receiver early and take some of the pressure off of James Washington early in the season.
