Report: Steelers bringing WR Eli Rogers back on one-year contract

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Eli Rogers has been re-signed to a one-year contract to remain with the team. Rogers was an unrestricted free agent but will remain with the team for the 2019 season. Pittsburgh is going to have to hold onto all the wide receivers they can after trading away Antonio Brown.

Rogers has been with the Steelers since 2016 but still hasn’t found his place in the offense. Rogers suffered a torn ACL in the team’s final game of 2017 which forced him to miss all but three games in 2018.

Where does Rogers fit on the Steelers’ depth chart? He’s likely to be an interchangeable part with Ryan Switzer as the team’s slot receiver. Both guys are very similar in style so they could end up working in tandem as interior receivers in four-wide receiver sets.
