Report: Steelers agree on two-year deal with WR Donte Moncrief

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who don’t usually sign many free agents, have signed their second player in three days, wide receiver Donte Moncrief. The terms aren’t yet known but the length of the deal is for two years. This is per NFL reporter Adam Schefter.

Moncrief was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2014 draft and left for the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2017 season. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Moncrief should pair nicely with JuJu Smith-Schuster and give Ben Roethlisberger a legitimate deep-threat.

Moncrief has 200 career receptions for 2,543 yards and 21 touchdowns. He averages 12.7 yards per reception and has a career long of 80 yards. Moncrief should fare well in Pittsburgh’s wide open offense, and could reach his full potential with Roethlisberger throwing him the ball.

The Steelers may yet still draft a receiver next month, but signing Moncrief makes the need to do so less urgent. As it stands, the Steelers top four receivers are Smith-Schuster, Moncrief, James Washington, and Eli Rogers.
