Report: Spurs show interest in Andre Iguodala, sides set to meet

Among those pursuing Andre Iguodala is the team Golden State beat to reach the NBA Finals this year, according to several reports.

The Spurs plan to meet with Iguodala in Los Angeles as soon as free agency starts just after midnight Saturday morning, as first reported by ESPN's Chris Haynes.

To throw more money at Iguodala than the Warriors might, San Antonio could renounce all free agents except Jonathon Simmons (who reportedly will be offered a deal shortly). That would give them space to offer Iguodala $19.3 million while retaining their $4.3 million room exception.

Also renouncing rookie guard Bryn Forbes could up cap space to $20.7 million, also with the room exception.

Bay Area News Group columnist Marcus Thompson II guessed that Iguodala will sign with the Warriors on a two-year, $36-40 million deal. Thompson reported that the Warriors are asking Iguodala to test the market and let them respond.

The Timberwolves, 76ers, Clippers, Magic, Nets and Jazz have also apparently expressed interest in Iguodala, according to various reports.
