Report: SoFi in talks for Chargers, Rams stadium naming rights

It’ll be another year until the Chargers and Rams move into their new stadium in Inglewood, CA. But it appears that the stadium is close to having an official name. SoFi is in negotiations to buy the naming rights, according to Fox Business.

Formally known as Social Finance, the San Francisco-based company provides student loan refinancing, mortgages, and personal loans via online transactions.

If a deal can be reached with the league, SoFi could pay as much as $20 million a year over the next decade and possibly longer. It seems like quite a bit of money being invested into it, but it is supposed to be one of the most expensive sports venues stadium in the country, costing slightly over $5 billion.

There has not been a date set for the official stadium name announcement, but the company will certainly get the publicity if they earn the rights, given the events occurring there within the next decade.

The stadium will play host to the 2022 Super Bowl, potentially the 2022 NFL draft, the 2023 College Football National Championship game and the 2028 Olympics.
