Report: Sedrick Barefield to play for Thunder in Summer League

After the Oklahoma City Thunder maneuvered their way through the 2019 NBA Draft to move down to the 23rd pick to acquire Darius Bazely and the Memphis Grizzlies’ second-round pick in the 2024 draft, the team reportedly made two moves.

Following the first reported move — which stated the Thunder had signed Arizona State guard and 2019 Pac-12 All-Defensive Team member Lu Dort to a two-way deal — news came out regarding Oklahoma City’s Summer League squad.

According to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando, the Thunder will add Utah guard Sedrick Barefield to their Summer League roster. Barefield had the best season of his collegiate career in his final year with the Utes.

The guard shot 40.8 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from three, averaging a career-high 16.8 points per game. Barefield earned his first All-Pac-12 First Team selection in his senior campaign at Utah. Among other things, Barefield’s 6-foot-2 build as a shooting guard will make it tough for his game to translate at the next level.
