Brandon Staley and Joe Barry may not be the only assistant coaches to leave the Rams this offseason. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seahawks have been talking to Rams passing game coordinator Shane Waldron about their offensive coordinator job.
Waldron hasn’t emerged as the frontrunner for the position, as Seattle is also looking at Ken Dorsey and Joe Lombardi, but Waldron is at least in the mix to be hired away from the Rams.
And this isn’t a hiring Sean McVay could block, either. Because it’s a promotion from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator, McVay can’t block Waldron from interviewing like he could with Kevin O’Connell when the Chargers wanted to speak to him.

Waldron has been the Rams’ passing game coordinator for the last three seasons and has been with Los Angeles since Sean McVay was hired in 2017. In his first year with the Rams, he was the tight ends coach before transitioning to passing game coordinator in 2018.
In 2019, he also coached the quarterbacks, but that position was essentially given to O’Connell this past season when he was hired, as well as Liam Coen. Waldron previously worked with McVay in Washington in 2016, as well, so their relationship goes back five years.
