Report: Seahawks agree to terms with defensive tackle Al Woods

The Seattle Seahawks’ busy week continues. Seattle has agreed to terms with free agent defensive tackle Al Woods, according to Woods’ agency, SportsTrust Advisors. It is a one-year deal worth $2.25 million, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Woods was one of a handful of f free agent defensive tackles the Seahawks hosted in April.

Woods is a nine-year NFL veteran who actually spent two games with the Seahawks back in 2011. He spent 2018 with the Colts, playing nose tackle and racking up 24 combined tackles, one pass defended and two quarterback hits.

After adding pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah, the Seahawks turned their attention to their run defense, an area where they needed depth after they lost veteran Shamar Stephen in free agency.

Woods, 32, will join Jarran Reed, Poona Ford and rookie DeMarcus Christmas on the interior defensive line as a solid rotational piece capable of stuffing the running lanes.

Seattle has a full 90-man roster, so when the signing becomes official, a corresponding roster move will be made.
