Report: Saints scheduled to visit Falcons for Thanksgiving, Rams in Week 2

The New Orleans Saints are scheduled to visit the Atlanta Falcons on Thanksgiving (November 28) per a report from Nick Underhill of the Athletic. The Saints hosted the Falcons just last season to headline the NFL’s slate of Thanksgiving Day games, and sent the dirty birds packing after winning 31-17. Now Atlanta gets the chance to return the favor.

This gives the Saints an opportunity to spike another holiday for their NFC South rivals, having also beaten the Falcons on Christmas Eve in 2017 with a score of 23-13. They’ve steadily closed the gap in the all-time series history, which the Falcons own (52-48). New Orleans has won five of their last eight games against Atlanta, and are within a stone’s throw of taking that title away.

Additionally, Underhill reports that the Saints will travel to face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 of the regular season; this comes after their reported ‘Monday Night Football’ appearance against the Houston Texans, which will be in New Orleans. Garland Gillen of FOX8-New Orleans reported that the Saints-Rams kickoff will be nationally broadcast by FOX in the afternoon slate. That costs the Saints a day of preparation before they travel to the West Coast, which isn’t an ideal situation. But it’s good to see that they’ll get an early chance at redemption after the botched 2018 NFC championship game.

The full 2019 NFL schedule will be released at 7 p.m. Central on Wednesday night.
