Report: Saints free agent target Ziggy Ansah visits Ravens

Former Detroit Lions pass rusher Ziggy Ansah visited the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Ansah visited the New Orleans Saints early in free agency but left without a contract; it was later reported that they were waiting, along with other teams, to see how he is progressing after December shoulder surgery. The Buffalo Bills also spent time meeting with Ansah.

The Ravens would make for a sensible landing spot for Ansah. They lost pass rushers Za’Darius Smith and Terrell Suggs in free agency and don’t have many other names at the position to chase quarterbacks in 2019. Landing him would be something of insult to injury after Baltimore signed longtime Saints running back Mark Ingram early in free agency.

If the Ravens can offer Ansah a starting job, the Saints would be hard-pressed to match it; they’re expecting last year’s first round draft pick, Marcus Davenport, to start opposite Cameron Jordan moving forward. With former starter Alex Okafor departed for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Saints need a third pass rusher, and Ansah would fit the bill. This is very much a fluid situation, so keep an eye out for updates.
