Report: Saints deny Bengals’ request to interview Aaron Glenn

The Cincinnati Bengals requested to interview New Orleans Saints defensive backs coach Aaron Glenn, but the front office and Saints head coach Sean Payton blocked that interview from happening. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that New Orleans will not allow the Bengals to poach their defensive assistant.

The interview request was sent to New Orleans earlier on Feb. 14, per a report from Josina Anderson of ESPN. The Saints apparently mulled it over for a few hours and decided to veto the move. First-year Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will have to look elsewhere to fill out his staff.

It’s interesting because the Saints allowed several other assistants to interview with other teams earlier in the offseason. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and tight ends coach Dan Campell met with the Green Bay Packers and a few other teams, while defensive coordinator Dennis Allen interviewed for the Arizona Cardinals job. Linebackers coach Mike Nolan was also considered by Cincinnati but nothing came of it.
