Report: Russell Wilson won’t sign contract extension after midnight

Today marks the deadline for the Seattle Seahawks to reach a new deal with quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson’s agent, Mark Rodgers, has been in Seattle the last three days, negotiating with the Seahawks front office.

There has been some confusion as to the time of the actual deadline, with one report indicating it could come as soon as the start of Seattle’s offseason workouts Monday morning.

ESPN is now suggesting the Seahawks have until midnight, tonight.

“Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson does not intend to sign a contract extension with the team this season if he does not reach an agreement by his self-imposed deadline of midnight Monday, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter,” writes ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

In a recent story by NBC Sports’ Peter King, Wilson’s camp has told Seattle all future negotiations will cease if no extension is in place by today. ESPN’s piece at least gives the Seahawks a few more hours to iron out a new deal.

This story is continuing to develop so check back for the latest updates throughout the day.
