Report: Rondo worked out Saturday but is unlikely to play vs. Raptors

Depending on which side of the debate you are on, the latest bit of news about Rajon Rondo will either be a gift or a curse. Rondo, who came into the season expected to be a potential bridge between LeBron James and Anthony Davis, has missed every game so far this regular season and is likely to miss another come Sunday.

Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes reported that while Rondo went through a workout on Saturday and wanted to play Sunday, he instead opts to boost “his endurance.” Rondo hasn’t played in a game since the Lakers came back from China in mid-October.

While Rondo has been out, the Lakers have had the NBA’s best defense with a top defensive rating. James is scoring like usual but is excelling as the team’s point guard, leading the NBA in assists. Davis also has been quite the eraser for mistakes this season.

Given all of the above, Rondo has plenty of reasons to take as much time as he can to get his cardio up before taking the court for what has been the NBA’s best team.
