Report: Rockets to waive Deyonta Davis and Chris Chiozza

The Houston Rockets are expected to contend for a title in 2019-20 after acquiring Russell Westbrook and teaming him up with James Harden for a legitimate superstar duo.

In order to do so, they will have to build a team around those two guys. General manager Daryl Morey has always had an aggressive nature about him and he has said in the past that the team is never done making moves.

On Tuesday, they dropped a little dead weight. According to The Athletic’s Alykhan Bijani, the Rockets will waive Deyonta Davis and Chris Chiozza who were two guys who did not factor much into the rotation.

Chiozza played seven games in 2018-19 and averaged 0.9 points and played 4.7 minutes per game. He then played with the Summer League team in Las Vegas and averaged 9.8 points and 6.4 assists.

Davis played in nine games with the Atlanta Hawks before the Rockets claimed him off waivers earlier in the summer. He averaged four points and four rebounds for the Hawks, but with the veterans that Houston has acquired, Davis did not appear to have much opportunity.
