Report: Rockets signing former Thunder forward Thabo Sefolosha

It feels like the Houston Rockets are becoming the land of former Thunder players.

In addition to the obvious, James Harden and Russell Westbrook, on Friday it was reported that the Rockets are signing veteran guard/forward Thabo Sefolosha, to a one-year deal with the league minimum, per Marc Stein.

Sefolosha spent six years in Oklahoma City, the last coming in 2013-14. That season he started in 61 games and averaged 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 26 minutes per game.

The 35-year-old was a fan favorite during his time with the Thunder, helping the franchise to the only NBA Finals appearance in 2012.

The Swiss national won Oklahoma City fans over thanks to his team first mentality and defensive tenacity. Case in point: his late game play during Game 3 of the 2012 Finals, where he forced a Dwayne Wade turnover late in the 4th quarter, laying it in to cut the Heat’s lead down to three.

After leaving Oklahoma City, Sefolosha has spent time playing for both the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz.

Sefolosha is not the only former Thunder player at Rockets minicamp. Former Oklahoma City players, Corey Brewer and Raymond Felton, were both recently invited.
