Report: Rockets among teams interested in Markieff Morris

The Houston Rockets are among playoff-contending teams interested in the services of Markieff Morris, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. Morris visited Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles on Monday and has been cleared to play after being sidelined by a neck injury on Dec. 26.

According to Haynes, the Los Angeles Lakers are also among teams interested in Morris. Both the Rockets and the Lakers cleared roster spots at the NBA trade deadline and could use the services of the 29-year-old forward.

Morris was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans last Wednesday, who subsequently waived him, clearing the way for him to sign with a contender. Rockets GM Daryl Morey said Friday that the Rockets intend to be “active” on the buyout market.

“We’re having multiple conversations,” Morey said. “We have a couple players on the top of the list. Until they clear waivers, it’s not something we can really talk about.”

Morris intends to make his decision this week, according to Haynes.
