Report: Robert Kraft disagrees with proposal for only two preseason games

Change has been the No. 1 theme in 2020.

Life constantly changes, but we’ve managed to slow that process down in years prior. The COVID-19 pandemic made everyone change their routines and live in the grey areas. These alterations have been heavily applicable to the sports world and how things are structured.

The NFL decided to cancel the preseason this year, shorten training camp and expand the number of teams to make the playoffs — along with much more. It opened eyes from league owners and people in power, which ultimately led to a new proposal. According to ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is in favor of shortening the preseason to only two games.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, along with other powerful owners, is against this change. These owners suggested that three preseason games was more feasible, but a decision wasn’t made. The four preseason games allow players to acclimate themselves to the high-contact situations they’ll be exposed to, along with providing a platform for lesser-known guys.

The post-COVID world will be interesting and the NFL will have a lot to consider, but owners don’t believe a two-game preseason is the answer.
