Reuben Foster avoids suspension, fined two game checks

The NFL reached a decision on punishment for Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster.

The league announced on Friday that Foster will receive a fine of two game checks but won’t miss any on-field time for his latest off-field incident.

The Redskins had claimed Foster off waivers after his release by the San Francisco 49ers knowing he might be subjected to a suspension. He started last season suspended for two games. Domestic violence charges against him were dropped in January.

The NFL issued a statement: “Foster has acknowledged that he is responsible for his actions, and he has committed to a comprehensive accountability plan developed by the league, the NFLPA, and the Washington Redskins to help him grow personally and avoid future misconduct. Foster was advised that any future incidents will likely result in more substantial discipline.”

For the Redskins, it’s nice to have a verdict on Foster’s future before the 2019 NFL draft. His availability could have played a role in how the team prioritized its board given the overhaul at the position this offseason.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero confirmed Foster won’t appeal the fine:
