Report: Retired Bulldog considering return to NFL

After missing last season’s NFC Championship game due to an appendicitis scare, New Orleans Saints’ and former UGA tight end Ben Watson announced his retirement from the NFL after 14 seasons.

Now, however, it appears that Watson is pondering a return to the NFL, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Former Saints’ TE Benjamin Watson, who intended to retire after last season, is now considering a return to the NFL, according to sources. Watson is currently focused on welcoming twins next week. But after their arrival, he may be open to coming back to the right situation.

Surely, Watson cannot be happy with the way things ended for New Orleans last season with the crushing loss to the Rams in the NFC Championship that he had to watch from the sidelines. If he does feel he has more left in the tank, why not wait a little longer before hanging up the cleats?
