Report: Redskins want ‘big game’ like Denzel Ward in return for Trent Williams

As the anxious hours before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline creep by, a new wrinkle has emerged in the oft-discussed trade rumors between the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins. Per a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Redskins are now willing to part with Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, but the price tag is high.

How high?

According to Rapoport, Denzel Ward high.

And it’s not just Ward, the young Browns Pro Bowl cornerback. Ward would be the gravy on top of a meal of draft picks. Various reports out of both Washington and Cleveland have mentioned multiple 2020 NFL Draft picks, though nothing specific.

Our take

John Dorsey has been desperately coveting Williams for weeks, but moving Ward and some draft picks for a 31-year-old holdout with a history of injury problems would be difficult to fathom.
