Report: Redskins reached out about Antonio Brown after Bills trade collapsed

The Washington Redskins apparently tried.

After a deal between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills for Antonio Brown fell part, it turns out the Redskins tried to get involved.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated had the details:

On Friday morning, as news broke that the trade had crumbled, three teams reached out to inquire on Brown with the Steelers: the Eagles, Redskins and Raiders. In a considerably weakened market, Oakland’s offer was the strongest, and the Steelers and Raiders tentatively agreed to the parameters of the trade on Friday night. From there, the Steelers gave the Raiders permission to talk to Rosenhaus.

As most know now, Brown is due to join the Oakland Raiders after the Steelers agreed to a deal.

But it is interesting the Redskins still attempted to reach out. With Case Keenum on deck, the Redskins are still looking at win-now moves despite an apparent lack of cap space.

Despite that supposed lack, the Redskins went out and made a splash with Landon Collins, anyway.

Collins aboard, the Redskins still have a problem at wideout. Going after Brown confirms the Redskins aren’t confident in what they have, which is bad news for a former first-round pick like Josh Doctson and Paul Richardson, a free agent they added last year.
