Report: Redskins QB Colt McCoy will start against Patriots

The suspense is finally over.

The Washington Redskins will roll out quarterback Colt McCoy against the New England Patriots in their Week 5 matchup, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

It took until Friday for Jay Gruden to make a decision, and he chose McCoy over the rookie Dwayne Haskins. Washington began the season with Case Keenum, but he was replaced by Haskins during the second quarter in their game against the New York Giants last week. Haskins proved to be ineffective after throwing for 107 yards and three interceptions.

McCoy has been inactive this season while recovering from a fractured right fibula, but he’ll play his first game of the season against an incredibly talented Patriots defense.

McCoy has won seven games out of 27 career starts, and he’s only started in six games since 2012. The Redskins are currently 0-4 and going against an undefeated Patriots team.

New England has terrorized rookie quarterbacks in the past and Washington is likely doing Haskins a favor by keeping him out of the game.
