Report: Redskins optimistic Terry McLaurin will play vs. Giants

The biggest injury news of the week was that New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley could miss a couple months due to a high ankle sprain, but the Washington Redskins had a little scare of their own.

Rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has emerged as Washington’s top offensive talent, tweaked his hamstring earlier this week and was a limited participant in practice on Thursday before completely sitting out on Friday.

McLaurin, who leads the team with 16 receptions for 257 yards and three touchdowns, is listed as questionable on the injury report but NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the team is optimistic he’ll be able to suit up against the Giants.

Given how poorly the Giants secondary has played thus far in 2019, the absence of McLaurin could certainly help balance out the loss of Barkley. However, if he’s able to play, it’s likely he has a career game — even on a bum hamstring.
