Report: Redskins ‘optimistic’ about Terry McLaurin’s game-time decision

The Washington Redskins hope to have star rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin on the field Sunday against the New York Giants.

McLaurin was a surprise addition to the injury report this week and a prior report suggested he would be a game-time decision.

A Sunday morning report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided an update: “Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) popped up on the injury report late in the week, but source said it’s just a minor ailment. He’s a game-time decision, but the team is optimistic that he plays.”

McLaurin has been one of the NFL’s brightest breakout stars so far, catching 16 of his 24 targets for 257 yards and three touchdowns, easily leading an otherwise struggling group of receivers statistically.

If he can’t go, it places even more pressure on the likes of Paul Richardson (135 yards, two scores) and Trey Quinn (99 yards, one score) to step up for the unit during what is sure to be another bitter NFC East battle.
