Report: Redskins not interested in trading OT Trent Williams despite John Dorsey’s repeated attempts

The rumors connecting disgruntled Washington Redskins offensive tackle and the Cleveland Browns have been circulating since the summer. A fresh report from NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo adds some fire to the smoke that Browns GM John Dorsey has been actively trying to land Williams via trade, but the Redskins simply are not interested in dealing the 7-time Pro Bowler.

Garafolo reports, “It’s not just a one-time thing that (Dorsey) called and said ‘hey are you trading Trent Williams?'” and that “he has called the Redskins every week for the last month and a half” trying to coax Washington and GM Bruce Allen to part ways with Williams.

The 31-year-old is sitting out the season rather than play under the franchise tag. Williams has shown no interest in reporting for duty with the woeful Skins, who squeaked out their first victory last week when the winless Dolphins botched a potential game-winning 2-pt. conversion.

Dorsey’s urgent and persistent interest is certainly understandable. Left tackle Greg Robinson has not played well, while right tackle Chris Hubbard has been terrible in pass protection. But it sure sounds like nothing will come of Dorsey’s efforts.
