Report: Vikings WR Adam Thielen likely to sit out Thursday night

The Washington Redskins defense might have caught a huge break going into a short turnaround for a Thursday night game against the Minnesota Vikings. Vikings wideout Adam Thielen injured his hamstring while catching a touchdown pass over the weekend.

According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Thielen is set to miss Thursday: “Thielen likely won’t play Thursday night, per source, but should be fine after that. As I said Sunday, Thielen was pushing to go back in, and he’s had things like this before.”

That means the Redskins could duck a wide receiver who already has 27 catches for 391 yards and six touchdowns through just seven games.

Granted, the Redskins will still have to deal with WR Stefon Diggs and a host of others Thursday night. The Washington defense looked strong in a 9-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers over the weekend, albeit on a drenched field that closely resembled a bog.

But every little bit helps on a short turnaround for a Thursday game, and bonus points to help stem the tide against former Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.
