Report: Redskins host Alabama State OL Tytus Howard on visit

The Washington Redskins clearly have an eye on the offensive line heading into the 2019 NFL draft.

After bringing in Boston College’s Chris Lindstrom for a visit, the Redskins also had on Alabama offensive lineman Tytus Howard, according to NBC Sports’ Josh Norris.

Howard is a 6’5″, 322-pound lineman who impressed with a 5.05-second mark in the 40-yard dash but disappointed in agility drills. Level of competition is also something to keep in mind.

Still, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein is one of many evaluators who can’t help but look at some of the things coaches can’t teach: “Howard is a gifted athlete with rare quickness and fluidity as both a run and pass blocker and his play issues are correctable with more work. While he will be dinged for level of competition, his upside was on full display with his play against Auburn.”

Howard has massive upside and if the Redskins aren’t targeting a guy like Lindstrom in the opening round, he might be available in the mid-rounds.

Guard and swing-tackle depth remain a priority for the Redskins heading into the draft.
