Report: Redskins hope to slip Adonis Alexander on practice squad

Adonis Alexander is something of a fan favorite for the Washington Redskins.

The former supplemental draft pick appeared in nine games last year and flashed some of the upside that encouraged the Redskins to take a gamble on him in the first place.

But an injury this summer and only just getting back to form meant Alexander didn’t appear on the team’s final 53-man roster.

According to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington, the hope is to slip Alexander onto the practice squad for a year: “Redskins are releasing CB Adonis Alexander, per source. Team wants to bring him back to practice squad.”

Getting Alexander to the practice squad might be trickier than it seems given his name recognition and the fact he showed some traits last year.

Even so, the emergence of Jimmy Moreland and the veteran leadership of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was too attractive to pass up at the spot.

Once again, the Redskins are hoping they made the right choice with Alexander.
