Report: Redskins have dialed in on Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins

It is a badly kept secret the Washington Redskins would like to address the quarterback position in the 2019 NFL draft.

The Redskins have met with most of the top names in the draft at the position, which stems from a desperate need in the wake of injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy.

Based on a new report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Dwayne Haskins is the preferred quarterback target.

The Ohio State product makes sense on a variety of levels. He only put up big numbers over the course of one season, but he presumably has enough to develop into a franchise passer.

Haskins would thread the needle a bit between now and later. He could technically start right away if Jay Gruden wanted him to, especially given the presence of a strong running game and defense. But if everyone wanted to wait, Haskins could sit and learn while Case Keenum gets thrown to the wolves in his first season with the team.

Either way, the report suggests the Redskins have identified their QB1.
