REPORT: Redskins discussing trading Trent Williams

According to Jeff Howe, who covers the New England Patriots for The Athletic, the Redskins are reportedly involved in trade discussions for left tackle Trent Williams.

Williams has been holding out from the team since spring camp, citing a rift in his relationship with the team’s medical staff, as well as a desire to reach a new contract extension in Washington.

There have been very few updates about the holdout situation aside from just conjecture, but a possible trade for Williams has been mentioned. Howe suggested the Patriots might be in the market due to a shallow depth at their tackle positions.

In the meantime, the Redskins have brought in a number of offensive linemen to try and shore up the left side in Williams’ absence. Veteran Donald Penn was recently signed to a one-year contract, and he is currently the frontrunner to start at the LT position.
