Report: Redskins cut LB Zach Brown, DL Stacy McGee

The Washington Redskins have to start saving cap space somewhere.

According to USA Today’s Mike Jones, the Redskins have cut Zach Brown and Stacy McGee ahead of free agency’s opening, which should help in the team’s efforts to fit Landon Collins onto the team.

Brown had a cap hit of $8.75 million this season, while McGee checked in at $2.4 million.

Both moves were easy to see coming. Brown was solid in the middle last year but took issue with some of the team’s actions, especially surrounding D.J. Swearinger. McGee had problems staying healthy and eventually saw his role taken over by others along the defensive line.

Washington’s situation at inside linebacker is especially concerning now, with the possibility of a Reuben Foster suspension looming large.
