The Washington Redskins reportedly made a long-anticipated move Friday, cutting veteran cornerback Josh Norman.
The report comes from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Norman, 32, was going to be a cap hit north of $15 million next year on the final season of his deal. The Redskins benched him late last season with the aim of testing depth in the secondary and Norman ended up not traveling with the team late in the year.
Washington had inked Norman to a $75 million deal before the 2016 season but never got the anticipated return on the investment.
Even so, there was the idea new Redskins head coach Ron Rivera might be able to revive the relationship given his history with Norman, as well as his efforts with other guys like Trent Williams.
Clearly, Friday’s move makes things official.
