Report: Redskins asked about Teddy Bridgewater at NFL scouting combine

It’s clear the Washington Redskins are exploring every avenue possible when it comes to the quarterback situation.

The Redskins considered Joe Flacco. They’ve openly admitted quarterback is on the table at No. 15. And as we’ve noted, trading for Josh Rosen would be a good idea.

Now it turns out the Redskins have also sniffed around New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, per a report from Les Carpenter of the Washington Post: “But he also figures to be more affordable than Foles, and the Redskins were inquiring about him at the combine, according to one person with knowledge of the Redskins’ discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose a private conversation.”

Considering Bridgewater is a free agent this offseason, it might imply the Redskins wanted to get some sort of deal done that guarantees the Saints ship him to Washington. That, or they were reportedly talking to his reps.

Either way, Bridgewater is a strong marriage of instant production with upside. The former 32nd pick in 2014 is still only 27 years old and won plenty of games in Minnesota before his devastating leg injury.

Bridgewater hasn’t had much of a chance since getting healthy. But he’d fit well in a game-managing role for the Redskins thanks to the strong running game and capable defense.

The only problem with the idea is the way the market will inflate Bridgewater’s next contract. But the Redskins are reportedly at least interested in the idea anyway.
