Report: Redskins aren’t considering making Josh Norman a post-June 1 cut

The Washington Redskins are keeping Josh Norman for the time being, according to a new report.

As we pointed out earlier, a post-June 1 cut would save the Redskins north of $11 million compared to just $8 million prior to the June 1 cutoff.

But the Redskins are hanging tight with Norman, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington:

There has been some speculation that veteran cornerback Josh Norman could be a June cap casualty. Checking in with one team official, the word was there had not been discussions about releasing Norman.

This was always speculation and little else in large part because the Redskins unexpectedly spent big this offseason on a guy like Landon Collins. But counteracting it is the desire to win now, which Norman is a part of, even if he struggled at times last year.

Unless something changes over the summer, Norman isn’t a cut even if it makes sense financially, especially because of the thin depth behind him on the roster.
