Report: RB Damarea Crockett to sign with Raiders practice squad

The Houston Texans won’t have the services of running back Damarea Crockett in the 2019 season.

According to Peter Baugh, who covers Missouri Tigers sports for The Athletic, the undrafted free agent from Mizzou has chosen to sign with the Oakland Raiders practice squad.

The Texans running back room, which did have the injury reaper swing a scythe through it with starter Lamar Miller sustaining a torn ACL and the release of D’Onta Foreman, got pretty crowded when the club traded with the Kansas City Chiefs for Carlos Hyde. Houston also kept Karan Higdon on the practice squad, which made it a little redundant to have another running back at that level.

Crockett produced 24 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown in four preseason games with the Texans, but Higdon got an inordinate amount of carries in the preseason finale versus the Los Angeles Rams. The former Little Rock, Ark., native will now have to catch on with the Raiders.
