Ravens to announce contract extension for K Justin Tucker

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to keep the best kicker in the game for the long term. The team has scheduled a press conference for later today, and Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic says it’s to announce a contract extension for Justin Tucker.

Tucker has one year remaining on his deal. With the New England Patriots having signed kicker Stephen Gostkowski to a two-year deal worth $8.5 million this offseason, it helped give Tucker a comparable deal to work from.

Tucker was a first-team All-Pro last year after connecting on 89.7% of his field goal attempts. It was a down year for most of the kickers in the league, and Tucker wasn’t immune to struggles. He missed an extra point for the first time his career in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints.

Still, Tucker has consistently been one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL year after year. His 90.1% success rate on field goals is the best in league history, topping greats like Mike Vanderjagt, Adam Vinatieri and Matt Stover. The nearest challenger for that record is San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould at 87.7 percent.
