Report: Ravens get 4th-round pick from Patriots in Jermaine Eluemunor trade

The Baltimore Ravens got quite the value from the New England Patriots in their trade of guard Jermaine Eluemunor. In exchange for Eluemunor and a sixth-round pick, Baltimore gets New England’s fourth-round pick in 2020, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

That’s an impressive deal for general manager Eric DeCosta. While Eluemunor had been in the running for the starting left guard job, he failed to step up and take it. Eluemunor likely drew the ire of the coaching staff and front office after failing his conditioning test at the start of training camp. In spite of being given every chance to win the job this offseason, Eluemunor faltered and allowed rookie Ben Powers and undrafted free agent Patrick Mekari to also get first-team reps. Eluemunor missed some time due to injury over the last week, and it appears the Ravens grew tired of waiting for him to develop.

With Eluemunor traded, Baltimore must feel pretty good about the depth they have on the interior of their offensive line. In return for letting Eluemunor go to an AFC rival, they get a prime pick in return.

The Ravens have had some great success in the fourth round. They took running back Justice Hill and Powers in this year’s draft, and added cornerback Anthony Averett and linebacker Kenny Young last year. Tavon Young, Willie Henry, Za’Darius Smith, Kyle Juszczyk and Dennis Pitta are some of Baltimore’s best fourth-round picks over the last decade.
