Report: Ravens cut UDFA S Nigel Warrior

The Baltimore Ravens can’t keep everyone, even if they’d very much like to. With the deadline to have the 53-man roster set coming later today, the Ravens are getting a quick jump on their cuts. Unfortunately, that means some difficult decisions.

Baltimore is cutting UDFA safety Nigel Warrior, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec.

The decision comes as a bit of a shock since Warrior has played well throughout training camp, including a rare interception. It was figured with the Ravens cutting veteran safety Earl Thomas earlier this offseason that an extra spot would be available for a player like Warrior. While it doesn’t guarantee anything, it likely means Baltimore will keep seventh-round pick Geno Stone instead.

Warrior had a great senior year at Tennessee. He amassed 60 total tackles, including two for a loss, as well as four interceptions in 2019.

Warrior was one of the few undrafted players with the best chance to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster. Baltimore has kept at least one UDFA each year over the last 16 seasons, but with Warrior gone, it puts the streak in serious jeopardy. There’s still hope Warrior can return to the Ravens via the practice squad.
