Report: Ravens considering free agent OLB Pernell McPhee

The Baltimore Ravens need some help at outside linebacker before they get to training camp, and it seems they know it too. After having brought in Ezekiel Ansah and Matt Longacre for free agent visits, the Ravens are considering bringing back Pernell McPhee, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

McPhee has had injury issues after leaving Baltimore following the 2014 season. But even with missing 15 games over the last four seasons and only starting in 17 games total, McPhee has managed to put up 14 sacks and 101 combined tackles. McPhee had significantly better results with the Ravens, getting 17 sacks over four years as a rotational option at outside linebacker.

Though it would be nice to find a starting outside linebacker who is a productive pass rusher, it’s unlikely to happen as we get closer to training camp. At this point, Baltimore is likely going to have to find a situational pass rusher to help the combination of Tim Williams, Tyus Bowser and Jaylon Ferguson opposite Matthew Judon.
