Report: Ravens and TE Dwayne Allen met on Tuesday

Per ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Baltimore Ravens met with free agent tight end Dwayne Allen on Tuesday.

Allen was also said to have flown to Buffalo on Tuesday night, presumably to meet with the Buffalo Bills. In addition to the Bills and Ravens, the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions were also reported by Anderson to have interest in meeting with Allen.

Since entering the league in 2012 as a third-round draft pick (64th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts, Allen has played in 86 games with 71 starts and totaled 139 receptions for 1,564 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has also played in 10 postseason games with four starts with 15 receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown.

Allen was released on Monday by the New England Patriots, whom he has played for over the last two seasons after the Colts traded him to New England in 2017. Over 13 games with the Patriots last season, Allen caught 3 passes for 27 yards.

While NFL rules state that teams can’t enter into any negotiations with free agents until the start of the legal tampering period on March 11, Allen is both free to negotiate and sign with a team effective immediately after receiving street free agent status following his release from New England.
