Report ranks Chicago 99 out of 150 for staycations

May 31--Chicagoans, take note. A new report says your city is not a staycation hot spot.

In its 2016 list of best and worst cities for staycations, Wallethub ranked Chicago 99 out of 150.

The nation's 150 largest cities were ranked based on three primary categories: recreation, food and entertainment, and rest and relaxation. Each section was assigned 33.33 points.

The cost of going to the movies, number of public beaches per capita and miles of bicycle lanes per square mile were some of the factors that determined the point total.

Chicago ranked 88 in recreation, 69 in food and entertainment, and 83 in rest and relaxation. The city was one of the worst in nation (87 out of 90) in the number of aquariums and zoos per capita as well as fewest beer gardens per capita (79 out of 81).

Major Midwestern cities such as Cincinnati (10) and St. Louis (14), as well as some smaller ones -- Akron, Ohio (71) and Fort Wayne, Ind. (97) -- came in ahead of Chicago.

Orlando, home to Walt Disney World, topped the website's list, and Chula Vista, Calif., was ranked the worst.

Don't take it too hard, Chicago. New York had it worse: The Big Apple came in at a lowly 148.
