The Detroit Lions will not get free agent running back Malcolm Brown after all. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams will match the Lions offer to the restricted free agent RB.
Detroit signed Brown to an offer sheet for $3.25 million over two years, with $1 million guaranteed. It also included a $100K signing bonus. The Rams had five days to match the Lions offer and they will do so, per Rapoport.
Had the Rams not matched the offer, Brown would have become Kerryon Johnson’s backup at a reasonable pay rate. The Lions would not have owed the Rams any compensation, either.
