Report: Rams wanted Browns LG Joel Bitonio in a trade for CB Marcus Peters

The Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams hooked up for a trade this past week. However, the deal which sent reserve offensive lineman Austin Corbett from Cleveland to Los Angeles is not the deal the Rams had in mind when the trade talks began.

According to a report from ESPN and Adam Schefter, the Rams initiated the trade talks with Cleveland with the hope of landing left guard Joel Bitonio. Schefter states Rams GM Les Snead offered cornerback Marcus Peters to the Browns, knowing that Browns GM John Dorsey initially drafted Peters while he was running the show with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dorsey balked at that deal but countered with Corbett, and that deal went down on Tuesday. The Browns received a 2021 fifth-round pick for the backup center.

The Rams wound up dealing Peters to the Baltimore Ravens and subsequently dealt two first-round picks to the Jacksonville Jaguars for CB Jalen Ramsey.
