Report: Rams-Saints NFC championship rematch to be in Week 2

There may not be a more highly anticipated game on the Los Angeles Rams’ schedule than their rematch against the New Orleans Saints. After splitting the series last year, the Rams and Saints will meet again in 2019.

Aqib Talib said he wanted to face the Saints in Week 1, while Cameron Jordan didn’t want the NFC championship rematch to happen until five or six weeks in. Neither got their wish, but the game will be held early in the season.

According to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com, the Rams and Saints will square off in Week 2 of the 2019 season. It will reportedly be in FOX’s late-afternoon window on Sunday, Sept. 15.

With all the controversy surrounding the infamous no-call against Nickell Robey-Coleman and the subsequent pass interference rule changes, there will be no lack of interest in this matchup. It’s somewhat surprising that it won’t be played in prime time, but it’ll still reportedly be nationally televised on Sunday afternoon.

Both Rams-Saints matchups in 2018 were at the Superdome. The Rams lost the first matchup in Week 9 of the regular season, but they got revenge in the NFC championship, earning a trip to the Super Bowl.

Their 2019 rematch will be played at the Coliseum, giving the Rams a home-field advantage this time around.
