Report: Rams offered Marcus Peters to Browns for OL Joel Bitonio

The Los Angeles Rams made three noteworthy trades last week, acquiring Austin Corbett from the Browns and Jalen Ramsey from the Jaguars. In the middle of those two deals, the Rams also sent Marcus Peters to the Ravens for Kenny Young and a fifth-round pick.

Those deals were sparked by the Rams initially offering Peters to the Browns for offensive lineman Joel Bitonio. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported exactly that on Sunday morning, sharing some insight on the Rams’ attempt to swing a deal for Bitonio.

The Rams thought Browns general manager John Dorsey would be interested in reuniting with Peters, whom he had helped draft in Kansas City. It was that proposal that started the chain of three trades being completed, all on Tuesday.

Bitonio would’ve brought a ton of help to the Rams offensive line, which just lost starting left guard Joseph Noteboom to a torn ACL and MCL last week. The unit has struggled all season long, and it’s clear the Rams wanted to address their biggest weakness through six weeks.

Corbett is a healthy scratch on Sunday and won’t make his Rams debut, but the Rams hope he can provide depth behind rookie David Edwards, who’s starting in place of Noteboom, and possibly Brian Allen at center.
