Report: Rams ‘going in blind’ with Todd Gurley’s knee for Week 1

All eyes are on Todd Gurley this weekend as he takes the field for the first time since the Super Bowl. The Rams have expressed confidence in his knee and made it clear that he’s feeling good, but that may not be the whole truth.

According to Jay Glazer of The Athletic and FOX Sports, the Rams are “going in blind” for Week 1 with regards to Gurley’s knee and have “no idea” how it’ll respond to a full game’s workload.

This is obviously not encouraging news, and McVay even hinted at being somewhat in the dark earlier this offseason. In a sit-down with Peter King of NBC Sports, McVay said this about Gurley’s knee.

“Todd’s the only one to be able to really say exactly how he’s feeling, and until we get out into a game, you never know exactly how it’s going to respond, but you feel great about where he’s at,” he said.

Gurley did not get a carry on the opening drive, but he did catch a pass. It’ll be interesting to see how much usage he gets on Sunday in his first game action.
